How Often You Need Brake Replacement
Brake pads and rotors will wear out over time. How long until you need brake replacement will depend on your driving patterns and the brake material. How hard you push on your brakes will affect how long the pads last. Some drivers will ride the brakes and others don’t, which can increase the life of the pad. Stop and go traffic and driving in a city can also wear out brakes faster than driving on long, straight roads that require less frequent braking. The materials for the rotor and pad can also factor into durability and lifespan. Carbon ceramic brakes usually last longer than metal brakes.
Typically brake pads need to be replaced after about 50,000 miles but sometimes they can last for 70,000 depending on different factors. Your brake pad thickness can indicate if you need a brake replacement, along with scraping or squealing noises and if your braking becomes jittery. If brakes are worn out or lose performance then they will need to be replaced.
